  • Taipei Main Station

    Taipei Main Station is not only the most significant hub of transportation in northern Taiwan, but also the largest railway station in terms of the building scale and traffic volume. Situated in Zhongzheng District of Taipei City, it is an underground union station shared by three transportation service companies: Taiwan Railway Administration, Taiwan High Speed Rail and Taipei Metro. Thus, a passenger can get access to a train, a high-speed rail, MRT Bannan Line and MRT Tamsui–Xinyi Line at the station.

  • Taipei Post Office

    The Taipei Post Office is a gigantic four-storey building with simple lines and little ornamentation. It features an arched entrance that projects out from the façade and the front of the building has four sets of classical double columns and gable decorations. The columns and windows divide the facade into two large and one small section. The double-height grand lobby has a very simple structure complemented by the classical carvings on the columns and the ceiling. As the Taipei Post Office is located near Beimen, it is also known as the Beimen Post Office. The post office's extended business hours means there are still people sending packages in the evening.

  • The Red House

    The Red House was constructed in 1908 by Japanese architect Kondo Juro, which was the first government-built public market in Taiwan and also the most well-preserved Class III historic building in the nation. The Red House consists of “Bagua" shaped Octagonal Display Hall as the grand entrance for it’s meaning— people visiting from all around the world, a characteristic Cruciform Building as main construction and adjacent South and North squares.

    The Red House has been through few functions, shifted from public market, bookstore, cinema, to a theatre. More than a decade has passed since 2007 when Department of Cultural Affairs entrusted Taipei Culture Foundation to manage The Red House as a platform to promote Cultural and Creative Industry in the goal of reviving Ximending’s community. After gathering years of cultural and creative energies, Ximending is now considered as the most iconic location of Cultural and Creative Industry in not only Taipei, but all around Taiwan.
